So my major is Zoology which means that my general theme for this blog will relate to anything that has to do with
These are some of the questions that I constantly think of when I talk or think about the future and what I want to do. For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a Vet, because I loved animals and wanted to help them. Whenever I was asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” my answer was always a Vet. I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to do. I don't think I’m alone with this self doubt, many other college students question what they want to do with their futures too. So doubt is just something that we all go through because it’s scary to have to decide so early what you want to do for the rest of your life. It’ll be hard to get into a Vet School, but it’s not impossible because I’m still young and have some time to get on track. I had some doubt about my major because I didn't really understand what Zoology was, I just chose it because it sounded like the closest thing to what a Pre-Veterinary Medicine major would do. I looked it up and it isn't that far off from what I want to do because Zoology is the study of parts and chemical makeup of all types of animals. In my opinion I think studying to be a Vet is more difficult then studying to be a Doctor, because a Vet needs to learn the functions of all species of animals while a Doctor only needs to know a humans.
animals . This post is more of a introduction to my topic and a brief summary of me talking about the field I want to pursue. My overall blog will discuss topics about new advances in Veterinary Medicine to stories about local humane societies. I want to be a Veterinarian, but when I applied to San Francisco State University I had to pick a major and Pre-Veterinary Medicine wasn't a option. So I chose Zoology because it was the closest thing to animal science. Most schools don't have Pre-Veterinary Medicine as a major which is unfortunate because then you have to settle with a different major and make sure that you are completing the correct classes that vet schools look for. This is really difficult because different schools may prefer more chemistry but others may prefer more biology. So it’s my job to search for the schools that I plan to apply to and make sure that I am fulfilling everything I need to, in order to fulfill their requirements. I am already stressed about this because I don't know where I want to go that would be a “realistic” choice. In case you guys didn't know this, Vet School is EXTREMELY competitive to get into. This is because there are only 28 Veterinary schools in the United States! So you can understand how that creates fierce competition. Whenever I do research on schools and look up classes that I need, I get really overwhelmed and start to question myself. Like do I want to spend so many years and money in school to become a Vet? What if I end up not loving this career? Will it be worth it? Is this really what I want to do with my life? Am I too young to decide what I want to do?These are some of the questions that I constantly think of when I talk or think about the future and what I want to do.
